North Wind Glass [みぃーにし泡盛グラス]
Around October a north wind reaches Okinawa. People here call it miiniishi. The heat has let go and the wind has not turned cold yet, which makes it the easiest season for drinking awamori slowly. There is a saying on these islands, ichariba choodee: once we have met, we are family. Blue, aqua and green carry that first cool wind into the glass. Hand formed in Itoman, Okinawa.
This one is aqua. An everyday glass. Water in the morning, something stronger after dark.
Every piece is made by hand, so size, color, pattern and the way the bubbles sit will differ from one to the next. Not heatproof. Keep it out of the dishwasher, the drying cabinet and the freezer.
