Made by Sueyoshi Seiichi, recognized nationally as a Contemporary Master Craftsman. Ginga means galaxy. He works black glass and silver leaf, and the leaf scatters through the dark the way stars scatter once you are far enough out to see the whole field at once. Every piece is blown by hand, so no two skies are alike.
A larger stemmed glass, red wine included.
Every piece is made by hand, so size, color, pattern and the way the bubbles sit will differ from one to the next. Not heatproof. Keep it out of the dishwasher, the drying cabinet and the freezer.

As a boy, Sueyoshi Seiichi loved watching the sky while night-fishing off Okinawa, and that habit of looking up became a life's work. Named a Contemporary Master Craftsman, he is the maker who first brought the night sky into Ryukyu glass. To hold a comet's core he fired gold leaf into black glass, watched it burn away, and after trial upon trial found that silver leaf would stay as grains on the surface. In the kiln each grain turns its own shade of blue, and a night sky appears inside the glass.

Galaxy holds a meteor shower inside black glass. Silver leaf, fired in the kiln, turns grain by grain into stars of different blues, and a night sky opens in the vessel with a quiet, drawing depth.
