Ippodo's Tea Strainer [特製茶漉し]
This fine-mesh tea strainer is built for sifting matcha powder before whisking. The frame is sized to sit over a chawan (tea bowl) and the mesh is tight enough to catch the small clumps that form in any tin of stone-milled matcha.
Sifting smooths the powder so it whisks into an even, frothy bowl without lumps. It is a small step that lifts the texture of every cup, whether you are preparing usucha (thin tea) at the counter or koicha (thick tea) for guests.
From Ippodo Tea, in Kyoto since 1717.
